What is the English Articles Quiz?

The English Articles Quiz is a free 4-choice web app for practicing a, an, the, and the zero article.

All sentences, choices, hints, and explanations are original. The app does not reproduce textbook passages, workbook exercises, entrance exam questions, test-prep materials, or official PDF content.

For middle school to high school learners

The quiz starts with basic article choices and gradually moves to high school-level usage such as specific reference, general statements, uncountable nouns, proper nouns, superlatives, and short-context questions.

Each course uses short original sentences so learners can focus on the article rule rather than memorizing a copied example.

Original hints for each question

The hint panel changes depending on the current question. It explains why the answer is a, an, the, or no article, and uses simple self-made diagrams for contrast.

My Page stores challenge history, best records, and often missed questions, making it useful for daily grammar review.

What learners can practice step by step

Articles are small words, but they change how a noun is seen. This quiz helps learners pause for a moment and ask: Is the noun one countable thing? Is it already known? Is it a general idea? Does the next word begin with a vowel sound?

Because each question is short, students can practice one decision at a time. The goal is not to memorize a long passage, but to build a habit of noticing the noun and the situation around it.

Useful for quick review at home or in class

Learners can use the 10-question course for a warm-up, the 20-question courses for focused review, and the 50- or 100-question courses for a stronger challenge.

Teachers and guardians can also use the course names as a simple guide: start with a/an, move to the, then practice zero article, uncountable nouns, place names, and context questions.

How the hints help

When a learner opens a hint, the app shows the completed sentence, the reason for the article choice, and a small original diagram. This makes it easier to review the mistake immediately after answering.

For example, a/an questions focus on sound, the questions focus on specificity, and zero-article questions focus on general meaning, plural nouns, and uncountable nouns.
