What is the Civics Japanese Constitution Quiz?

The Civics Japanese Constitution Quiz is a free web app for practicing key civics ideas about the Constitution of Japan in a 4-choice format.

Students can review the three basic principles, popular sovereignty, fundamental human rights, pacifism, separation of powers, the Diet, the Cabinet, the courts, local self-government, constitutionalism, and amendment procedure.

All questions, choices, hints, diagrams, and reading text are independently written for this app. They are not copied from textbooks, workbooks, entrance exams, mock exams, official PDFs, lesson slides, or school handouts.

What can you practice?

The quiz is made for quick review before class, after lessons, or before tests. It does not only ask for isolated terms. Many questions ask students to connect a word with a role, example, or reason.

Course lineup

Short 10-question practice is useful for a quick start. Longer courses support repeated review, time attack, and checking weak areas on My Page.

Dynamic hints with diagrams

Hints change according to the current question. Diagrams explain the three principles, popular sovereignty, human-rights categories, separation of powers, local government, constitutional hierarchy, promulgation and enforcement dates, and amendment flow.

The hints are written so that students can notice where they were confused: whether they mixed up rights and duties, the Diet and the Cabinet, courts and judicial review, or promulgation and enforcement.

For students, teachers, and families

This app is useful for students who want to check terms in a few minutes, teachers who want a light review activity, and families who want a simple way to talk about civics at home.

After answering, students can use the review screen and My Page to look back at often missed questions. The goal is to move from memorizing words to explaining how rights and government systems work.
