What is the free Summary Quiz?
The Summary Quiz is a free web app for practicing reading-summary skills with original 4-choice questions.
It is designed for upper elementary and middle school students who want to practice finding main ideas, key words, paragraph roles, facts and opinions, connectors, dialogue summaries, data-style summaries, and concise revisions.
Original passages and original questions
All quiz passages, choices, explanations, diagrams, and numbers are created independently for this site. The quiz does not copy textbook passages, workbook questions, entrance exam questions, mock test questions, official assessment questions, listening scripts, or teaching materials.
The courses are built as an independent learning structure based on general reading and summary skills.

What you can practice on this site
This quiz helps learners notice what should remain in a summary and what can be left out. Students practice choosing the main idea, judging whether a choice is too narrow, reading connectors, and improving unclear summary drafts.
Because the questions are 4-choice, learners can try a short session during free time and then use the hints to review why the answer fits the passage.
For teachers and families
The passages are short original texts about familiar school and community situations, so they can be used for quick reading practice before writing longer summaries by hand.
