The Scene Transition Reading Quiz is a free web app for practicing how to read changes in a story or short passage.
All passages, questions, choices, explanations, diagrams, and examples in this quiz are original. The quiz does not reproduce textbook passages, workbook exercises, entrance exam questions, mock test materials, or school handouts.

Students read a short original passage and choose the best answer from four choices. The focus is not memorization, but noticing how a scene changes and finding the evidence in the passage.

For upper elementary to junior high students

Each quiz is short enough for daily practice, but the longer courses can be used for review and challenge sessions.
Useful for reading warm-ups and home study
Teachers can use the quiz as a short warm-up before reading class, and families can use it to practice discussing why an answer fits the passage.
